Assessing Research, Education and Outreach Needs
to Meet the Growing Demand for Organic Products

2020 Survey of Organic Farmers and Ranchers

You can help ensure future research investments are relevant and responsive to the top needs of organic producers!

The Organic Farming Research Foundation and the Organic Seed Alliance request your participation in an important national survey to identify the top challenges facing organic farmers and ranchers today. This feedback is critical to building a comprehensive roadmap for future research investments that help advance organic agriculture across the United States. Results will be published in updates of OFRF’s National Organic Research Agenda (NORA) report and OSA’s State of Organic Seed (SOS) report.

The survey is voluntary and all responses will be kept confidential. You can skip any question your prefer not to answer. Under no circumstance will your identity be shared in the resulting data and reports. This work is supported by the Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative (OREI) grant no. 2019-51300-30249 from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture.

Please have the person most familiar with the day-to-day management of your farm or ranch complete this survey (such as the farm owner or primary farm operator). As you answer the survey questions, please think about both owned and leased land.

If you are not the person who is most familiar with the operation, please give this survey to the person who is most familiar with the farm/ranch operation.

If you are a split operation and have both conventional and certified organic land, please answer the survey questions with information related to your certified organic operation.
